The Private Sector Organization of Jamaica, PSOJ, is welcoming the launch of the country’s first Coding Academy as an important step towards diversifying the Jamaican economy and boosting business productivity.

President of the PSOJ, Keith Duncan, says Jamaica cannot achieve true value added to the economy without realizing the goal of digitising the economy.

He believes the launch of the Coding Academy will provide a key opportunity for Jamaican young people to become competent ICT professionals.

This, he says, will boost the country’s problem solving capacity and move the economy forward.

The PSOJ boss says the initiative complements other positive steps the government has taken on the ICT front.
