About 95 percent of Public Health Inspectors across the island withdrew their services today, to express their frustration over an ongoing wage negotiation with the Finance Ministry.
The sick out affected all four regions and Health Department in all parishes.
The Jamaica Association of Public Health Inspectors, expressed sympathies with the workers, who it says are believed to be exhausted from the extensive work they routinely perform.
The Association says the workers are experiencing what it calls ‘high levels of stress and de-motivation’ relating to their duties and wage related matters.
Karen Brown is the Association’s President.
She says the Finance Ministry has been non responsive to the plight of the workers.
Miss Brown is warning that the strike action could continue indefinitely.
