Political Commentators believe the government could call the general elections now despite the current spike in COVID-19 cases.
Political Commentator, Kevin O’Brien Chang, says the highest number of cases recorded last week, 30, shouldn’t pose a problem in calling the elections.
However, he says there may be a need for provisions that will guide the process if there’s a massive spike after the elections have been called.
He says there’d also be a need for provisions that indicate what will happen if a candidate has COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Political Analyst, Helene Davis Whyte, says campaigning in the middle of a pandemic will require the establishment of protocols to guide the process.
