The Senate this morning resumed debate on the Cyber Crimes Bill.

The Bill gives effect to recommendations proposed by a joint select committee of Parliament, which was appointed two years ago to review the draft legislation.

The Bill includes new offences such as computer-related fraud or forgery, use of computers for malicious communications and unauthorized disclosure of investigations.

Government Senator Lambert Brown gave support to the bill.

The bill was approved in the House of Representatives on October 13.

Meantime .. two Opposition Senators, Tom Tavares Finson and Kavan Gayle turned up for the sitting of the Upper House of Parliament today following a two week boycott by the Opposition.

Senator Tavares Finson offered general support for the bill but expressed concerned about a section.
