The Jamaica Labour Party, JLP has appointed Government Senator, Aubyn Hill, as Treasurer for the party.

In a statement, the JLP says Senator Hill’s appointment is effective June 30.

He replaces outgoing JLP Treasurer, Phillip Henriques, who the JLP says it hopes will join the House of Representatives as a Member of Parliament after the next General Elections.

It’s not clear which constituency Mr Henriques is expected to vie for.

But at this point, the North East Saint Ann constituency remains without a JLP standard bearer, following the passing of former Labour Minister Shahine Robinson in May.

North Eastern St Catherine Member of Parliament, Leslie Campbell, has also announced he won’t seek re-election.

The JLP says it thanks Mr Henriques for his stewardship during his tenure.

In the meantime, the JLP says Senator Hill brings to the table a wealth of experience in finance, both locally and abroad.

It says Mr Hill’s academic qualifications include an MBA from Harvard Business School.

The JLP says Mr Hill has lived in nine nations and has done business in about 118 countries.

The JLP says Mr Hill has been approved by the party’s Standing Committee.
