Several people have been contacting the Real Estate Board after being fleeced by unscrupulous persons who conducted fraudulent property transactions.

Andrew James is the chairman of the Real Estate Board.

Mr James warns that huge sums of money can be lost if there is no proper due diligence to verify if persons are licensed to carry out real estate transactions.

He said there are times when persons are overcharged by un-scrupulous sellers.

The Real Estate Board chairman said such pitfalls can be avoided by engaging licensed real estate professionals.
