Tax Administration Jamaica, TAJ, is reminding motorists that they don’t have to have a copy of their registration sticker and fitness certificate on a smart phone but they can instead have printed copies of the documents to show to the police if they are requested.
The TAJ’s new policy of the non-issuing of printed registration stickers and fitness certificates came into effect on July 21, 2025.
Merris Haughton is the chief corporate communications officer for the TAJ.
Ms Haughton is reminding motorists that if they apply for their motor vehicle registration or fitness certificate at TAJ offices, they are required to have an email address.
Meanwhile, there is an increase in the number of people who are using the TAJ’s online facility to register private motor vehicles.
