The University of the West Indies Vice Chancellor, Sir Hilary Beckles, says the 21st century will be the time of reparatory justice for the slave trade.
Professor Beckles says reparations will be the greatest political movement of this century.
Sir Hilary was speaking on Al Jazeera over the weekend in response to announcements by several institutions such as the Church of England apologizing for the benefits they gained and role played in slavery.
Professor Beckles says the institutions which benefited from Caribbean Slavery should work to create a development model that assists the territories from which they extracted their wealth.
Sir Hilary says a simple statement of regret and apology is not enough to satisfy the evil of slavery.
