Nationwide News understands that a number of medical technologists at the National Blood Transfusion Service have called in sick today.

Sources close to the situation say, this is part of protest action by staff over issues at the facility.

A source speaking with Nationwide News on condition of anonymity.

However, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Dunstan Bryan, says the absence of the seven medical technologists have not impacted service delivery at the blood bank.

Mr. Bryan says he was unaware of any protest action by the staff at the blood bank, as the process would require correspondence from the union representing the workers.
