The Minister of Sports, Olivia Grange has committed 25 million dollars to the staging of this year’s National Senior and junior Track and Field championships at the national stadium starting on Thursday.
The meet was officially launched this morning.
President of the J-3As, Garth Gayle, says the championships will be used to select the country’s teams to the various track and field competitions on the international circuit.
60 events will be contested over the four day with 597 athletes already entered.
Gayle says he expects Jamaica’s athletes to continue the country’s 16 years dominance of world sprinting.
