Sports Minister Olivia “Babsy” Grange has told Nationwide Sports that her Ministry will shortly be rolling out an Athletes Registry, similar that of the E Registry for members of the Entertainment Industry.

The compilation of the Registry is well underway with some 1600 names already from across a number of sports already logged into the Data base.

Sports bodies and Associations have been contacted to submit the Names, Addresses, TRN numbers and other information to the Ministry.

The A Registry will give the Ministry greater ease and a more direct line in doing business with the athletes.

Among the groups which have already submitted names is the PLCA and Grange says players and officials of the clubs will receive compassionate grants from the Ministry, she is just not able at this time to say when.
