The Statistical Institute of Jamaica, STATIN, says a revised completion timeline for the country’s population and housing census will be easier to determine by this week.

That’s according to Carol Coy, the organization’s director general.

The undertaking, commencing last September, was slated to end on March 31.

However, Ms. Coy said several administrative issues, now resolved, slowed the pace at which the data collection exercise progressed.

Coy gave the update during a Standing Finance Committee meeting at Gordon House recently.

Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Dr. Nigel Clarke, with portfolio responsibility for STATIN, also provided an update.

Dr. Clarke says STATIN also has had to introduce other data collection techniques, including electronic options, to expedite the process.
