Police Commissioner, Major General Antony Anderson, is urging Jamaicans to take the threat of the Covid-19 virus seriously.

Commissioner Anderson says it’s critical that people show regard for the various enforcement orders to help limit the spread of the virus.

Commissioner Anderson says many people are cooperating with the orders and protocols.

In the meantime, Commissioner Anderson says recreation areas at Police stations are critical to the welfare of Police personnel – especially in the current environment.

Commissioner Anderson says the existence of recreational areas and canteens at police stations are not to be confused with a violation of the Covid-19-related order that bars be closed.

The Police Commissioner was responding to a Gleaner newspaper report this week which alleged that bars at police stations remain in operation in violation of the order.

Commissioner Anderson says the police are practicing social distancing as much as possible.
