National Security Minister, Dr Horace Chang, is seeking to assure the nation, that the Police will, once and for all, dismantle the notorious Spanish Town-based Clansman gang.
Dr. Chang notes there’s been several violent incidents suspected to have been committed by members of the gang in St. Catherine, recently.
He says with the help of the States of Emergency, that was in place, the Police have removed 60 members of the gang and have jailed over 50 of them.
But, the National Security Minister says there is still a significant number of gang members who are free.
He says the Police are actively pursuing the gangsters.
He says the the government is reviewing the legal aspects of prolonged use of States of Emergency.
Minister Chang says, in the meantime, the Police are sustaining the use of Zones of Special operations and intelligence-led policing.
