United Kingdom High Commissioner to Jamaica, Asif Ahmad, says if Jamaica responded to its crime problem as it does the COVID-19 pandemic, the country would be safer.
He’s also predicting what he calls a deadly mixture of the COVID-19 pandemic and the flu season.
He says that will be the real second wave of the coronavirus.
He was addressing a Lion’s Club of Kingston meeting at the Pegasus Hotel yesterday (Wednesday).
Mr Ahmad says Jamaica needs a measure to arrest crime, similar to its anti-Covid-19 management plan.
Mr Ahmad notes that several persons are saying we are now experiencing a second wave of the pandemic.
But, he says that’s premature.
He says countries around the world are having different experiences managing the coronavirus.
He says some countries are also withholding useful information about the virus from citizens.
