Prime Minister Boris Johnson announces that all adults will be offered a booster jab by the end of January next year.
People will be worked through by age group – as at other stages of the Covid vaccine roll-out.
The prime minister says that means 14 million more adults have now become eligible for a booster in England alone.
Health Secretary, Sajid Javid, speaking alongside Mr. Johnson, says the booster campaign will be put “on steroids”.
The UK has detected eight further cases of the Omicron Covid-19 variant.
