The Jamaica Umbrella Group of Churches, JUGC, is renewing its call for persons to take the Covid-19 vaccines after the country recorded a 54 percent positivity rate on Monday.
Recently the Ministry of Health and Wellness announced a community-based approach to the country’s vaccination programme.
Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. Christopher Tufton included church leaders as one category of community leaders who would be utilized for this approach.
Speaking on Nationwide @5, JUGC President Reverend Dr. Peter Garth, said the country is facing a major crisis.
Reverend Garth says several church leaders have agreed to use their place of worship as vaccination sites.
He added that persons are visiting vaccination sites because people close to them are dying from the virus.
However, the JUGC President admits that some persons have genuine concerns about taking the vaccine.
