National Security Minister, Dr. Horace Chang, says an upgrade to the Automated Palm and Fingerprint Identification system has been implemented to reduce the waiting time outside the Criminal Records Office.

The Multi-Biometric Identification System was installed at the criminal records office in downtown Kingston recently.

He says the ministry will soon digitise documents as the demand on staff has increased.

The minister says the system upgrade amounts to more than $700 million.

Dr Chang says amendments to the Criminal Records (Rehabilitation of Offenders) Act will be considered if required.
