Prime Minister Andrew Holness touted deepening relations between the United States and Jamaica as a success of his administration.

He told JLP supporters that his administration’s strategic approach to foreign policy will be to the benefit of the country.

Mr. Holness says discussions on a new framework of cooperation between the US and Jamaica have already begun.

He pointed to the new security arrangement with the United States.

The new arrangement replaced a previous one signed in 2006 by then National Security Minister Dr. Peter Phillips which was deemed unsatisfactory and inadequate by the Supreme Court.

Mr. Holness told his supporters that unlike that MOU which was signed in secret his can stand up to public scrutiny.

He says similar agreements in other areas are also being negotiated.
