Foreign Affairs Minister, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, says there’s been a breakthrough in discussion with the government of Trinidad and Tobago about the return of approximately 1-hundred-and-50 Jamaicans.

The Jamaicans have been experiencing difficulty in returning home due to the closure of Trinidad’s borders.

The borders in the twin island republic have been closed due to Covid-19.

But Minister Johnson Smith says the Government of Trinidad has agreed to help facilitate the return of the Jamaicans.

Minister Johnson Smith says discussions about the return flight are being finalized.

However, she says the approval from the Government of Trinidad and Tobago is a key step in achieving the objective.

Minister Johnson Smith says up to 1-hundred-and-20 of the Jamaicans had sought the assistance of Jamaica’s Foreign Affairs Ministry in returning home.
