The Met Service says northern parishes should expect periods of heavy showers and thunderstorms up until mid-week.

The Met Service says a persistent stationary front is producing a large area of cloudiness with showers and thunderstorms across the north central Caribbean.

The Office says the system has stalled just north of Jamaica.

It says observational data indicates that rainfall is expected to continue through to the middle of the week.

According to the Met Service, strong gusty winds are expected across northern parishes during this time due to the presence of a Low-Level Jet Stream across the north central Caribbean.

Fishers and other marine interests, especially those inshore and offshore the north coast, are being urged to exercise caution as sea conditions will deteriorate.
