The St. Ann Police have confirmed that they’ve recaptured accused rapist and child murderer, Troy Ellis.

Ellis, who was being held on suspicion of the September 23 rape and murder of 8 year old Talia Thompson, escaped police guard at the St. Ann’s Bay Hospital over the weekend.

The child was stabbed multiple times.

The Police say a female licensed firearm holder was driving along the Discovery Bay Main Road, when she spotted a man matching the description released by the JCF.

The woman is said to have apprehended Ellis and turned him over to the Discovery Bay Police sometime after 10 Sunday night.

The JCF has described the woman’s actions as commendable.

It says it remains grateful for the continued vigilance of the public in ensuring the safety and security of communities.

The Inspectorate and Professional Standard Oversight Bureau, IPROB, investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding his escape.

The two police officers who were assigned to guard Ellis at the hospital have been taken off frontline duty.
