Approximately one billion US dollars have flowed into the country through illicit activities such as lotto scamming and money laundering.
That’s according to Minister of National Security Dr. Horace Chang.
He outlined the figure while making his contribution to the Sectoral Debate yesterday.
He says law enforcement both locally and internationally has mobilized to bring the criminals to justice.
However, Dr. Chang says this type of what is often considered white-collar crime is peculiar due to the high levels of associated killings in Jamaica.
