President of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association, JHTA, Clifton Reader, has disclosed that approximately 75% of workers in the hotel and attractions industry have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

He made the disclosure while speaking about the much anticipated Tourism Workers Pension Scheme.

More than 3-hundred thousand tourism staff will benefit from the scheme which will require mandatory contributions by workers and employers.

Mr. Reader added that the JHTA collaborated with the Private Sector Vaccine Initiative, PSVI, to have ensure the workers vaccinated as the industry returned to normal.

Meanwhile, Mr. Reader added that the JHTA is seeking to train tourism staff as the overseas demand for qualified Jamaican workers have increased.
