Nationwide News understands that PNP Presidential aspirant, Peter Bunting, has rejected a plan by the party leadership to hold an early special delegates conference ahead of the annual conference to decide on the leadership of the party.

Our sources say Mr. Bunting has told the PNP leadership and secretariat that he will be nominating for the post of President in September when the constitution of the party mandates that the post will be automatically declared vacant.

Bunting is reportedly moving to negate what his team argues may be a plan by the Dr. Phillips’ camp to limit the time he has to reach out to delegates.

However, Phillips’ allies say the early delegates conference is being contemplated to limit the potential of a long and divisive leadership race.

The issue of holding a special conference was reportedly discussed at last night’s meeting of the PNP executive.

Our sources say no final decision has been taken by the secretariat.
