Mayor of Kingston, Delroy Williams says several administrative changes have been made to improve the transparency and the work of the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation, KSAMC, and the Building and Planning Committee.

Speaking during Nationwide at 5 Wednesday afternoon, Mayor Williams explained that a mandatory inspection must be conducted every three months.

Kingston’s mayor says multiple building officers will be assigned to inspect the constructions.

He added that a report must be submitted on the progress of the work every month end.

Mayor Williams elaborated that a certificate of completion must also be provided.

Earlier this week the minority caucus of the KSAMC, the Opposition People’s National Party, resigned from the Building and Planning Committee of the Municipal Corporation.

The move comes amid what they describe as the lack of integrity, transparency and efficacy with which the JLP-leadership of the municipality is operating.
