Trinidad and Tobago’s Covid-19 cases continue to increase at an alarming rate with 404 additional people testing positive for Covid-19.

The Ministry of Health in its clinical update on Monday noted that active cases had now risen to 8,695, with overall positive cases at 66,293.

The ministry noted that the additional cases are from results from samples taken between Thursday and Sunday and not the last 24 hours.

These new patients will be processed for admission at the discretion of the CMOHs.

Unfortunately, an additional 10 patients have passed. The patients were three elderly men, three elderly women, three middle-aged men and one middle-aged woman.

The ministry noted that six of those patients had multiple comorbidities including diabetes, hypertension, kidney disease, asthma and cancer.

Three patients had one comorbidity. One person had no known comorbidity.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths to 1,977.

Currently, 539 patients remain hospitalised for Covid-19, while 106 are at step-down facilities and 87 in State quarantine. Of those patients being treated for Covid-19, 91.7 per cent are not fully vaccinated.

But, 47 more people have been discharged from public health facilities, bringing the total number of patients recovered from Covid-19 to 55,621.
