A Deputy Superintendent of Police has died from injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle collision in St. Elizabeth last evening.

He has been identified as 37-year-old DSP Omar Morris.

DSP Morris was attached to the Westmoreland Police Division.

Preliminary reports are, about 8:15 last evening, DSP Morris was driving his Honda motor car along the Shaws Main road in Lacovia when it’s alleged he attempted to overtake a Toyota Hiace bus.

DSP Morris reportedly lost control and collided in the bus.

Both vehicles reportedly hit the embankment of the road resulting in the Honda being flung into a river.

Mr Morris and the other driver were taken to hospital where Mr Morris was pronounced dead.
