Director of Family Health Services, Dr. Melody Ennis says they’ll be stepping up the vaccination programme across the country in the next eight days to use as many AstraZeneca vaccines as possible before the September 30 expiration date.

Dr. Ennis was speaking during Let’s Talk Vax on Cliff Hughes Online on Wednesday morning.

Dr. Ennis informed that one of three batches of the AstraZeneca vaccine will expire in eight days on September 30.

Jamaica currently has 100,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

It’s unclear how many from the 100,000 doses doses will expire on September 30.

The family health services director says on average, they’re vaccinating 4,000 people per day.

Dr. Ennis is encouraging people, especially those who’re due their second dose by September 30 to come out and get the jab.

Meanwhile, she revealed that the vaccination rate has slowed since the pause on the administering of the Pfizer vaccine in the country.
