With the police intensifying operations in the St Catherine South Division, eight men were detained in these operations, with one from Newlands who is a person of interest and is believed to be a part of a gang.
The police say two of the men detained in the Old Harbour Subdivision are persons of interest in a recent shooting incident in the Old Harbour area.
The men, they say, are also persons of interest in murders and other shooting incidents in the Old Harbour area.
Thirteen 9mm cartridges were seized during one of the operations.
On Thursday, May 4, nine men were detained as joint military operations were conducted in Braeton, Reids Pen, Central Village and Gregory Park communities.
The police say approximately one pound of ganja was seized and a man is to be charged for possession and dealing in ganja.
