Police suspect that a white Toyota Noah motor vehicle involved in a deadly crash on the Williamsfield to Toll Gate leg of Highway 2000, was the getaway vehicle used in a break-in at a business establishment in Red Bank, St Elizabeth on Saturday.
Police say that about 3:45am, the vehicle, with two people on board, was travelling on the highway when the driver reportedly failed to negotiate a corner and crashed into a wall.
The vehicle subsequently burst into flames, trapping the occupants inside.
Their burnt bodies were later removed and taken to the morgue.
Investigators say the driver had moments earlier failed to stop when signalled by members of the Highway Patrol.
Subsequent investigations led police to suspect the vehicle had been used in a break-in at a business establishment in Red Bank, where thieves reportedly stole approximately $1.5 million in cash and more than $2 million worth of liquor, cigarettes and other merchandise.
