Opposition Leader Mark Golding has committed to a minimum 40 percent increase in the income tax threshold if his party forms the next government.

Currently, Jamaicans who earn $1.5 million or less are spared the income tax payment of 25 percent of their gross pay. A 40 percent increase in the threshold would extend that benefit to those earning as high as $2.1 million.
