Executive Director of the National Solid Waste Management Authority, NSWMA, Audley Gordon is condemning the murder of two sanitation workers, who were killed on Wednesday morning on Milton Road in Waterford, Portmore in St Catherine.

Dead are 20-year-old Shakesh Jackson of Cockburn Pen in Kingston and 49-year-old Paul Jackson of Kidd Lane, Waltham Park Road also in Kingston.

Another worker who was wounded during the incident remains in hospital.

Mr. Gordon says the NSWMA family is in mourning.

The police say the men were in the process of loading garbage into a truck, when they were pounced upon by armed men. The men fired several shots before fleeing in a waiting motor vehicle.

Mr. Gordon says Wednesday morning’s incident is likely an isolated event.
