Opposition Senator designate, Norman Horne, says he will not resign as Senator when a new PNP President has been elected.

But, the former PNP Treasurer says he will offer his resignation to the new party leader.

There are those who believe the incoming President should be given a clear hand to select the members of the Upper House and not be constrained by the Senate appointments put forward by Dr. Phillips.

However, the Supreme Court has already upheld that a Senator does not serve at the whim of the Opposition Leader or Prime Minister and cannot be compelled to resign.

Mr. Horne seems to support the view that the incoming Opposition Leader should be given a chance to recommend to the Governor-General those to be appointed to the Upper House.
