Member of Parliament for Manchester Central, Rhoda Moy Crawford, is beaming with pride to see the birth of the Inaugural Community Football League which was named in her honour.
The tournament which features 24 team got underway at the James Warehouse Sports Complex last night and is set to end on August 4.
In yesterday’s results, Police beat Flames 5-2, Mandeville Liquor Store beat Teachers 4-2, Newman Constructions edged Party City 4-3, and Villa United beat Young Strikers 5-1.
Crawford says she wanted to establish the league even before she was elected Member of Parliament.
She says she plan to expand the project in coming years.
Crawford is positive the league will unearth new talent.
