The Ministry of Health has extended the islandwide curfew set to expire tonight until Sunday, January 31.

In a statement this afternoon the Ministry says the decision was made while it continues to assess the degree of spread of COVID-19 over the holiday season.

The islandwide curfew hours will therefore remain in place commencing at 10:00 nightly and ending at 5:00 each morning. 

All other measures, including the ban on parties and events, the public gathering limit of 15 persons as well as measures relating to travel, burials and weddings are unchanged and remain in effect until the end of January.

Meanwhile, 63 additional cases of COVID-19 were identified.

This includes 25 males and 38 females.

Another five persons have died of the virus.

The deceased are a 66 year old man from St. Ann, a 67 year old woman of St. Catherine, an 80 year old woman of  St. James, an  82 year old woman of Kingston & St. Andrew and an 85 year old man also of Kingston & St. Andrew.
