The Jamaica Basketball Showcase tipped off yesterday with six games, at the UTECH Auditorium.

In the first game of the inaugural season, Lignum Vitae got the better of Blue Mahoe 44 to 35. In the other first round games, Phase One beat Central Warriors 51-35, and Caribbean Basketball Academy dominated Hummingbirds 55-37.

The tournament is being played in a round robin format.

In the afternoon session, the second round of games were played. Central Warriors got past Blue Mahoe, 54-44, Phase One went two from two, when they defeated the CBA 42-34. While in the final game of the day, Hummingbirds squeezed by Lignum Vitae 52-49.

The three day showcase ends tomorrow with the playing of the final, at the same venue. There will also be a Skilles challenge, dunking contest, a half time entertainment show and an awards ceremony to close out the Showcase.
