Two more Covid 19 patients have died in Jamaica, raising the number of deaths from the disease to 12.

In a statement the Health and Wellness Ministry says one of the deceased was a 64 year old man from Clarendon and the other, a 73 year old woman from St Thomas.

The Ministry says both deaths are among 11 new cases being reported yesterday.

That brings the total number of positive cases to 894.

It says the new cases range in ages from 13 to 73 years old.

It says two of the new cases were imported, having arrived recently on flights from the USA and Dominica Republic.

According to the Ministry, two of the new cases are contacts of confirmed cases and seven are currently under investigation.

The Ministry says there are now 90 active cases in the country and two patients are moderately ill.

In the meantime a total of 743 people have recovered, which means the nations recovery rate is 83 percent.
