An immigration officer has been arrested for allegedly raping a tourist who came into the island last week.
Nationwide understands the immigration officer allegedly processed the tourist who arrived on the island from the United States.
It’s understood the African American woman while being processed struck up a conversation with the immigration officer.
It’s understood she was processed to stay at an address in Kingston.
However, Nationwide understands the woman later went home with the immigration officer.
Our news centre understands the woman believed to be in her mid- thirties spent four days at the home of the immigration officer.
But on the weekend she reported to the Montego Bay Police that she was raped by the officer.
He was then arrested.
The immigration officer is still in custody.
It’s understood the woman has given a statement to the Police and the Jamaica Tourist Board, JTA, on the matter.
