The suspect in the murder of Constable, Jermaine Bennett, was killed after engaging police in a gun battle today.
Senior Communications Strategist for the Constabulary, Dennis Brooks, confirmed the incident with Nationwide News.
Constable Bennett was killed on the Gregory Park Main Road in the vicinity of Christian Pen while visiting his 5-week old daughter last week.
He was attached to the Kingston Central Division and was assigned to the Kingston Western Zone of Special Operation, ZOSO.
It’s understood the suspect, who went by the name ‘Richie Bud’, was being sought by police since Bennett’s murder.
Mr. Brooks says the police seized two firearms and several rounds of ammunition from the suspect.
