Marcus Garvey Jr., the firstborn son of Jamaica’s first national hero, Marcus Mosiah Garvey, has died.

Garvery was 90 years old.

He died in Wellington Florida yesterday, after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Throughout his lifetime, he was a brilliant electrical engineer, physicist, and mathematician.

He later became president general of the United Negro Improvement Association (UNIA), the organization founded by his late father.

Garvey is survived by his widow Jean, younger brother Dr. Julius Garvey, sons Colin and Kyle-Sekou, stepdaughter Michelle Morris, and four grandchildren.
