The Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency, MOCA, has arrested and charged Trelawny-based Accountant Goldston Cranston for forgery and uttering forged documents.

In a statement MOCA says Cranston was charged on Monday.

According to MOCA , the charges stem from the engagement of a construction company by the Housing Association of Jamaica, HAJ.

It says the HAJ engaged Complant Limited in 2017 for the construction of an apartment complex in the parish of St. Ann.

MOCA says, the project was subcontracted to Elegant Estates Limited, who were required to submit a performance bond in favour of the HAJ.

MOCA says the director of Elegant Estates Limited, Garfield Daley, hired Cranston to procure two performance bonds on his behalf.

It says one of the bonds was in the sum of 16-million 497-thousand dollars and the other totaling 5-million 493-dollars.

MOCA noted that in seeking to authenticate the bonds, the HAJ discovered that while the bond for the smaller sum was authentic, the performance bond for the larger amount was fraudulent.

It says the HAJ then reported the matter to MOCA and an investigation was launched.

MOCA says the investigation unearthed that Cranston fraudulently prepared the 16-point 5-million dollar bond in order to deceive the HAJ.

Cranston is to appear in the St. Andrew Parish Court on January 25.
