Director of the Realtors Association of Jamaica and Attorney-at-law, Gabrielle Grant, says the issue of money laundering in the real estate industry is a significant problem.

That follows reports of criminals buying high end properties across the Corporate Area in a money laundering scheme.

Ms. Grant says realtors must make assessments to ascertain whether a transaction is at risk.

Ms. Grant says some people do not wish to pay real estate commission.

She notes that the construction industry, among others, is a prime area for money laundering to take place.
