Anti Corruption lobby, National Integrity Action, NIA, is urging the government to sign off on agreements for the remaining deliverables for the National Consensus on Crime.
In an interview yesterday, NIA Executive Director, Professor Trevor Munroe said it’s disappointing that the deadlines were missed.
Professor Munroe is most concerned about the Public Body Accountability Act.
Professor Munroe noted that selecting effective public bodies is vital for the sustenance of the economy.
He said this will be key to our recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.
The NIA Executive Director says the government should speed up the process of making the Major Organised Crime & Anti-Corruption Agency, MOCA, an independent body.
Meanwhile Professor Munroe says one deliverable is not enough.
