Abka Fitz-Henley reports.

Opposition Leader, Dr. Peter Phillips, says if the government does not provide a status report on ongoing corruption investigations within 30-days the Opposition will consider taking action – including protests.

Dr. Phillips issued the warning this afternoon during a media conference at the PNP’s Old Hope Road headquarters in St. Andrew.

The investigations are being conducted by the Financial Investigations Division, FID, the major Organized Crime Division, MOCA, the Auditor General’s Department and the Integrity Commission.

Dr. Phillips says there’s been too much silence about ongoing corruption investigations.

He says an update is needed immediately.

The Opposition Leader says the update should include details about the status of the investigation into the Caribbean Maritime University, CMU.

Dr. Phillips says the Opposition will not wait forever for an update.

He commented on options he says are available to the Opposition if an update on the corruption investigations isn’t provided.

Dr. Phillips also called for the board of the CMU to be dismissed.

Dr. Phillips was addressing a media conference this afternoon.

He was flanked by PNP Executive members including – Dr. Wykeham McNeil, Fitz Jackson, Mikael Phillips and Phillip Paulwell.
