Minister without portfolio in the National Security Ministry, Senator Matthew Samuda, is rejecting an assertion by Opposition Leader, Dr. Peter Phillips, that there’s been no significant gain being made in the fight against violent crime.

Dr. Phillips and former Security Minister Peter Bunting, made the charge at a media conference yesterday.

Minister Samuda called in to Cliff Hughes Online today and responded.

Minister Samuda is also rejected Dr. Phillips’s criticism that the Government’s use of States of Public Emergency has been a failure.

Dr. Phillips also chided the Government saying the extent of crime in the island has left Jamaicans in panic.

Minister Samuda responded saying the Holness administration has made some necessary investments to equip the security forces to fight violent crime but more has to be done.

He says the PNP President should be more sober in his analysis of the issue.
