Senior Advisor and Communication Strategist in the Tourism Ministry, Delano Seiveright, says there’s been no fallout from the coronavirus scare on the sector.

Reports surfaced yesterday that the University Hospital of the West Indies was treating a suspected case of the coronavirus and that sections of the Accident and Emergency unit at the hospital was on partial shut down.

Speaking with Nationwide News yesterday, Mr Seiveright says the Tourism Ministry and its agencies have been in constant contact with the Health Ministry.

He says they’ve been co-ordinating on the issue since yesterday.

Mr Seiveright also lauded the Health Ministry for what he describes as their quick response to the issue.

Opposition Deputy Spokesman on Health and Wellness, Dr Shane Alexis, says he has confidence in the system of monitoring at the ports of entry.

He is however concerned about the readiness of isolation facilities.

He is urging the authorities to revisit the arrangements that were put in place for the Ebola threat some years ago.
