The World Health Organization, WHO, has upgraded the assessment of the risk of the new coronavirus-COVID-19, impact from ‘high’ to ‘very high’ at the global level.
The WHO announced the upgraded risk assessment this morning during a press conference.
The Health Organization also disclosed that some 20 vaccines are now under development.
WHO Director General, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is warning that every country should now be prepared for its first case of the new coronavirus.
He disclosed in a press conference earlier that the risk assessment impact for the disease has now been upgraded to very high.
Up to yesterday a number of other countries around the world had recorded their first case of COVID-19.
But in the country of origin, China, Dr. Adhanom Ghebreyesus says they recorded the lowest number of cases since the outbreak.
Dr. Adhanom Ghebreyesus is calling for all government’s to educate their population on COVID-19.
Meanwhile, he says some 20 vaccines are being development globally.
The WHO says the greatest fear at this time is rumours but the greatest asset to address the disease is facts and solidarity.
The WHO Director General is reminding persons of best practices to minimise the spread of the new coronavirus.
He’s also again advising persons of the symptoms of COVID-19.
