The Financial Investigation Division, FID, says following receipt of advice from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, it will be carrying out additional investigative work in connection with the probe of fired Education Minister, Ruel Reid and the Caribbean Maritime University, CMU.
It’s understood that the DPP’s office communicated its advice this afternoon to the FID and the leadership of the Constabulary.
FID Chief Technical Director, Robin Sykes, spoke with our news center just after 4:00 this afternoon.
Mr. Sykes says work on the investigation is to continue.
Mr. Sykes says the FID is determined to ensure that its investigations are as complete as possible before it seeks to proceed to another stage.
Mr Sykes declined to say when he expects that the investigations will be considered complete.
Reid was fired from the Cabinet by Prime Minister Andrew Holness on March 20 this year.
The Prime Minister said he separated Reid from the job to ensure that any investigation into issues of concern will not in any way be impeded by his presence or oversight of the Ministry.
