PNP Chairman, Robert Pickersgill is distancing the party from a declaration from Government MP, Michael Peart, that Jamaicans should anticipate a General Election before the end of the year.
Mr. Pickersgill says Prime Minister and PNP President Portia Simpson Miller will engage in wide-ranging consultations before deciding on the election date.
Addressing a PNP meeting in Manchester last week, Michael Peart said all indications are that a General Election will take place before Christmas.
But the PNP Chairman, Robert Pickersgill, distanced himself from Peart’s sign reading when he addressed a media conference today at the PNP’s Old Hope Road Headquarters.
We asked him whether he agrees with Mr. Peart that an election should be expected this year.
And Mr. Pickersgill says the PNP is upbeat ahead of its annual conference beginning September 18.
The PNP Chairman says the Prime Minister and party President, Portia Simpson Miller, will speak about the solid achievements of her administration.
